Does Simple Fasting need an account?
No. The current app has no free or paid accounts, registration, or login. Core fasting, history, statistics, reminders, widgets, Live Activities, and settings work locally.
Accounts, login, cloud recovery, and cross-device synchronization are not planned.
Does the free app use analytics?
No. The current app does not use an analytics SDK, does not track product events, and does not create an installation identifier. There is no PostHog, Sentry, advertising identifier, cross-app tracking, behavioral profiling, session replay, or analytics backend in V1.
The app does not send fasting dates, times, durations, history, goals, notes, reminder schedules, export contents, contacts, GPS location, email, or other health or personal content to analytics.
App stores, operating systems, website hosting, email, backups, and destinations you choose for exports are separate services with their own data practices.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Timing, history, statistics, reminders, supported widgets, optional iOS Live Activities, and settings work without a network connection. Internet access is only needed for optional website, legal, support, and email actions.
Where is my data stored?
Your active fast, settings, goals, notes, and history are stored locally on your device. Statistics are derived locally from that history.
Your operating system may include app data in a device backup depending on your device and backup settings. Simple Fasting does not control or receive those backups.
Can anyone else see local data?
Anyone with access to your unlocked device may be able to see the app. Notifications, widgets, Live Activities, operating-system backups, screenshots, shared exports, and notes can also expose information depending on your choices and device settings.
Use device access controls, review notification and widget visibility, and store exports securely.
What website information is processed?
The static website does not directly collect visitor information through its own code and does not intentionally use analytics cookies, advertising pixels, or fingerprinting. Cloudflare and other network providers still process ordinary request information such as IP address, browser or user agent, requested page, timestamp, and security logs to deliver and protect the site under their own terms and privacy policies.
We do not use that information to track you across unrelated websites or apps.
What happens when I email support?
If you email support@simplefasting.app or bugs@simplefasting.app, we and the relevant email providers receive your email address, message, attachments, and information you choose to include. We use it to respond, investigate issues, provide support, and maintain necessary security or legal records.
Do not email medical records, passwords, government identifiers, payment information, or full fasting exports. Send only what is needed to explain the issue. You may ask us to delete a support conversation, subject to legal and security retention requirements.
Does the app collect crash or diagnostic information?
The app does not include a third-party crash-reporting SDK. Apple App Store Connect and Google Play Console may provide native crash, ANR, device, operating-system, app-version, and release-health information according to the app store and device settings controlled by those platforms.
Separately, after certain storage, reminder-restoration, or rendering errors, the app may keep up to 50 recent diagnostic events locally. These events contain limited error and app-build context and are designed not to contain fasting history, goals, notes, settings, advertising identifiers, or device identifiers.
In Settings, Report bug offers an optional local diagnostic JSON file. You can email it directly when a native mail composer is available, or get the file through the operating-system share sheet. That file is not shared unless you choose it and a destination. Review it before sharing; if you email it, your email address, message, and attachment are handled as described above. Clearing app data also clears the local diagnostic log.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Create a JSON or CSV export from Settings, then save or share it through the operating-system share sheet.
You can later import either Simple Fasting export format on another device. Import preserves existing history and skips duplicate or overlapping sessions. A JSON backup also restores supported settings; CSV restores session history only. Import is unavailable while a fast is active. Keep exports private because they can contain fasting dates and notes.
The file leaves Simple Fasting when you choose a destination. You are responsible for its recipients, storage, security, and deletion after export.
Can Simple Fasting recover deleted data?
No. Simple Fasting has no cloud copy or account recovery for local app information. Clearing data, uninstalling, device loss, storage failure, or a failed backup may permanently remove it.
Create and safely store an export before clearing data or uninstalling if you need a copy.
Why did a reminder, widget, or Live Activity not update?
Notifications, widgets, Live Activities, clocks, and background work depend on operating-system permissions, scheduling, battery controls, and device behavior. They can be delayed, suppressed, inaccurate, or unavailable.
On first launch, onboarding explains notifications and lets you choose **Allow Notifications** or **Not Now**. If allowed, fast-end reminders start enabled and daily reminders remain off until you opt in. If skipped or denied, reminder settings show **Enable Notifications** until notifications are allowed in the device's system settings.
The app reads notification permission directly from iOS or Android on app launch, foreground, and Settings open. It does not store a separate notifications-enabled flag.
Check app and device settings, but do not rely on Simple Fasting for an emergency, medication, medical, or other safety-critical alarm.
Is Simple Fasting medical advice?
No. Simple Fasting is a general wellness tracking tool, not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, nutrition advice, monitoring, or emergency service.
Consult a qualified healthcare professional before fasting if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, have a medical condition, take medication, have nutritional concerns, or have a history of an eating disorder. Stop fasting and seek appropriate care if you feel unwell.
Can children use the app?
The service is not directed to children under 13 in the United States or the equivalent minimum age elsewhere. Fasting may be inappropriate for children and adolescents.
Anyone under the age of legal majority should use the app only with a parent or guardian and guidance from a qualified healthcare professional.
Is Simple Fasting available in every country?
No guarantee is made that the app is available or lawful everywhere. App-store availability varies, and the app must not be downloaded, exported, transferred, or used where prohibited by applicable sanctions, embargoes, export controls, or other law.
Restrictions can apply to particular persons and organizations regardless of country and can change over time.
Does Simple Fasting include accounts or paid features?
No. Simple Fasting does not include or plan accounts, synchronization, subscriptions, purchases, advertising, or paid features.
Before launching functionality that materially changes data handling, we will update the Privacy Policy and relevant terms and request permission or consent where required.
Can the Privacy Policy, Terms, or FAQ change?
Yes. Product features, law, security needs, and operations can change. Updated legal documents will show a new version and effective date. Material changes may also be announced in the app, website, or store listing where appropriate or required.
We will not silently turn existing local-only fasting information into remotely collected information. If law requires affirmative consent for a new use, we will request it separately.
